Tyler Van Brocklin
Seattle native. Software engineer. HOA board president — and not a stranger to hardware.
Tyler founded his first company at 18, building apps for public schools. He graduated from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Informatics, focused on Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, then worked as an engineer at Axon — building software that powers first responders’ mission-critical hardware.
After purchasing a home in a small four-unit townhome community in Seattle, Tyler took on the role of HOA board president. Managing the community meant collecting dues, paying shared expenses, coordinating meetings, and keeping documents organized — all without a system that made any of it simple.
Finding reasonably priced water submetering was just as hard. Most companies he reached out to had 25–50 unit minimums. Those that would serve a small HOA charged high fees and offered poor service — including no autopay because of the community’s size. Enterprise HOA platforms were built for 200-unit complexes with management companies. Nothing existed for four neighbors trying to keep things running on their own.
